Teen accused of beating grandmother arrested for attempted murder

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police say a teen accused of beating up his 73-year-old grandmother has been arrested in Douglas County.

Samuel Flores, 18, got into a fight with his grandmother on the morning of Saturday, December 28, 2013, according to investigators. Flores is accused of beating up his grandmother and then stealing her car.

The grandmother, who has been identified as Elvira Countryman, suffered serious injuries. She is reportedly in stable condition at the hospital.

Police say a report of a burglary led Douglas County deputies to Flores. He was arrested on Sunday, December 29, 2013. Flores is facing charges for attempted first degree murder and burglary.
