COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Whether you're feeling on top of the world, or just want to spend a night there, The Broadmoor Hotel says it has just the place for you.
The Broadmoor opened Cloud Camp, its Cheyenne Mountain wilderness retreat, located 3,000 feet above the rest of the resort.
To get there, you can either take a guided hike, ride in a shuttle or on a mule.
Cloud Camp is built on the same foundation as the lodge Broadmoor founder Spencer Penrose built in the 1920s.
"This is part of a wilderness experience where guests can come to the Broadmoor and experience different activities and different environments," said Cloud Camp General Manager Tina Harlow.
The 8,000 square-foot lodge has seven rooms, including a honeymoon suite. The camp also has 11 one and-two bedroom cabins.
There isn't much technology to be found in the rooms. The Broadmoor hopes guests will use their time to experience the outdoors.
"We'll have a morning discovery hike, where you're out looking for animals. There's archery, and we'll offer yoga every morning," Harlow said.
Cloud Camp has a rustic environment, but offers the amenities you'd expect from a five-star hotel.
"Our willingness to bend over backwards every day to make sure the guest experience is what they want it to be, will be here," Harlow said.
