Therapist accused of having sex with patients

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs therapist is facing charges after police say he had sex with two of his patients.

Darrell Wainright is facing charges of sexual assault on a client by a psychotherapist, which is a felony.

Springs police say this investigation began on April 29, 2014, when a 43-year-old woman came forward with allegations against Wainright.

The woman told police that Wainright's advances began with flirting after one of their counseling sessions. She said the flirtation led to a night of drinking at a bar, which led to their first sexual encounter on March 28.

Police say the woman reported having sex with Wainright a second time on April 4. In that case she says another one of Wainright's patients was involved in the encounter. Investigators say the second woman corroborated the story.

A Colorado Springs Police detective interviewed Wainright on June 17, 2014. The detective says that Wainright confessed that both sexual encounters did happen.

Wainright was employed by Peak View Behavioral Health when the allegations surfaced.
