Traffic stop leads to ID theft arrest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An early-morning traffic stop in Colorado Springs led to an arrest Thursday morning.

Colorado Springs police spotted a suspicious truck Wednesday night on Forrest Hill Road.  An officer attempted a traffic stop but lost sight of the truck.

Early Thursday morning, another officer saw the same truck driving too fast near I-25 and Fontanero Street. That officer pulled the truck over. The officer detained the driver and did an inventory search on the truck.

Officers found drug paraphernalia, multiple ID's and driver's license, Social Security cards, financial statements and forged documents, police said.

During the search, officers also found a cluster mail box that was stolen just north of Pueblo. The United States Postal inspectors took control of the mailbox.

The driver, David McKinley, was arrested and faces several charges, including identity theft.
