Trooper car hit; four cars involved

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - A Colorado State Patrol cruiser was hit Saturday afternoon in slick conditions while the trooper was investigating a rollover crash on I-25 and the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit.

Four cars were damaged in two different crashes. The trooper was investigating a crash near the median around 2 p.m. when a white SUV lost control and rolled over in the grass on the west exit traveling southbound on I-25.

Once the trooper parked his car and began investigating the rollover, another car lost control under the exit bridge and crashed into the trooper vehicle, then rolled over. State Patrol says a forth car, a black Nissan Cube, was traveling behind the car that rolled over the patrol cruiser, when it slid into the crashed vehicles.

All three drivers that crashed were taken to the hospital. The state patrol trooper was not injured. Corporal Ryan Novotny says the drivers were traveling too fast for conditions.
