Two Ft. Carson soldiers killed in Afghanistan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Department of Defense released the names of five solders killed in Afghanistan this week, including two Ft. Carson soldiers.

Officials say the men died June 9, in Gaza Village, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered while engaged in combat operations.

The two soldiers with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division from Ft. Carson:

Cpl. Justin R. Clouse, 22, of Sprague, Washington. 

Pvt. 2nd Class Aaron S. Toppen, 19, of Mokena, Illinois.

According to the DoD, Cpl. Clouse served two tours in Afghanistan, and was deployed on his latest mission February 12, 2014.  Cpl. Clouse served two years, four months in the Army.

Pvt. Toppen was serving his first tour in Afghanistan.  He arrived March 9, 2014.  Pvt. Toppen had only been in the Army 11 months.

Also killed in the battle June 9th:

Staff Sgt. Scott R. Studenmund, 24, of Pasadena, California.

Staff Sgt. Jason A. McDonald, 28, of Butler, Georgia.

Spc. Justin R. Helton, 25, of Beaver, Ohio.
