Two children rescued from burning apartment

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two kids were rescued from an apartment fire in Colorado Springs Sunday.

A spokesman with the Colorado Springs Fire Department said that neighbors heard children crying from a unit at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Pacific Hills Point.  The neighbor then saw smoke coming from the apartment unit and called 911.

Firefighters say a neighbor was able to safely evacuate two children from the home.  It's unclear where the parents/guardians were at the time of the fire.

The fire sprinkler in the apartment contributed to the safe outcome of this fire, authorities said.  However, due to water damage, the family living at the unit will be displaced.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
