UPDATE: Mail delivery for Black Forest Fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The  U.S. Postal Service is beginning to resume mail service in neighborhoods affected by Black Forest Fire.

NEW: The Elbert Post Office, 80106, which had relocated operations to Kiowa, is returning to their building. All routes out of Elbert are resuming today and will be delivering accumulated mail.

NEW: The Black Forest Retail Postal Unit at the Forest Plaza Market will reopen on Monday. All mail and services are being serviced out of the Briargate Station.

NEW: Monument, 80132, still has 1400 addresses that will not get delivery today. However, 1,300 addresses that had been evacuated will see mail delivery service today. All accumulated mail will be delivered, but if your address is still in an evacuation zone, you can pick it up at the main Post Office, 543 3rd St.

NEW: Colorado Springs mail to the Gleneagle area, Zip 80921, will be delivered today, including all accumulated mail.

NEW: Approximately 200 addresses serviced by Peyton, ZIP 80831 in the Black Forest Falcon will resume today. About 25 will still be held at the Peyton Post Office, 13055 Bradshaw Road because of closures.

CONTINUING: Most mail for 80908, which is the heart of the Black Forest, will not be delivered because of road closures. This mail is being held at Briargate Station, 8585 Criterion Dr, and can be picked up at the side door in the lobby from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The phone number to the station is (719) 265-4409.
