UPDATE: Police arrested man who broke into Springs business

Police arrest burglar in business attic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police searched a southeast side business for several hours Monday before finding and arresting a suspected burglar.

A police dog found a man hiding out in a building in the 3700 block of Astrozon Blvd. Police say the dog bit him.

Officers were called to the business at around 10:30 a.m. They said they could hear the man moving around in the attic area of the business when they arrived.

The SWAT team was involved in the search.

Astrozon was closed between Hancock and Academy and several adjacent businesses were evacuated.

Colorado Springs police are working to establish the suspects identity. They say fingerprinting revealed a mistake with the suspects name at the time of arrest.

The suspect has now been identified as Tyler Konecne. Konecne is now also facing a felony charge of Attempting to Influence a Public Official, and a misdemeanor charge of Criminal Possession of an Identification Document.
