UPDATE: Safe2Tell tip prompts Harrison High School lock out

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A precautionary lock out was ordered at Harrison High School Tuesday after someone left an anonymous tip through Safe2Tell.

Specific information about the contents of the tip have not been released.

Harrison School District 2 says a lock out means that no one may enter or leave the building.

The district says the lock out remained in effect through the end of the school day and that classes continued as normal inside the building.

D-2 Superintendent Andre Spencer posted the following note on the district's Facebook page Tuesday evening:

Dear Harrison community,

As you may know, we had a precautionary lockout on our Harrison High School campus today. Due to the nature of an anonymous tip and the details surrounding it, we felt it wise to put our campus on a lockout. Instruction continued as usual inside the school today.

The tip was made through Safe2Tell, an organization that provides an anonymous venue for students, administrators, parents, teachers and law enforcement agencies to share information regarding student safety.

A Safe2Tell tip alone does not prompt a lockout, but this particular tip contained information that led law enforcement to get involved.

The tip we received contained information that alluded to a student retaliating against other students. We spent the day working with law enforcement and students to gather information and assess the situation.

Due to the nature of incidents like this, most details will not be shared with the public so that the investigation is not jeopardized. Please understand we have shared with you what we are able, and we are diligently working to ensure your child's safety every single day. We are confident today's situation was handled in a manner that ensured student and staff safety while maintaining a positive learning environment.
