Victim identifed in deadly attack at Springs apartment complex

Gregory Martin, father of two, is killed trying to stop a burglary

Man Killed At Colo. Springs Apartment Complex

The victim of a stabbing at a Colorado Springs apartment complex has been identified as Gregory Dean Martin, 46.

Family tells KRDO Newschannel 13 that he is a father of two who was a maintenance worker at the Park Ridge Apartments where he was killed Friday.

Police responded to the complex, at 2618 Serendipity Circle West, just after 9 a.m. after learning that Martin had been stabbed after he interrupted a burglary.

Isaiah Jackson, 21, was arrested soon after and is being charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree murder.

Martin's sister said Martin was a father to a 19-year-old and 13-year-old and has a 3-year-old great-niece.

"He is loved by so many and his life was cut short by a heartless, senseless and gruesome act," said Lisa Martin-Manns.

Martin-Manns said her brother was athletic, mischievous, and a big Michigan Wolverines fan.

She said her family is trying to raise money to bring her brother's body back home to Ohio, where he was born and raised.

"It's not final until you see his lifeless murdered body and know that it's actually him," he said.
