Victim in Pueblo hit and run dies

Police search for driver of Chevy truck

PUEBLO, Colo. - The victim of a hit and run in Pueblo has died as a result of his injuries.

35-year-old Earl Mullenex, Jr. was crossing the street at West 29th Street and Country Club Drive around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 when he was hit by a truck.

The driver of the truck hit Mullenex and didn't stop, police said.

Mullenex suffered major trauma to his head and lower body, police said.  He was transported to Parkview Hospital in serious condition.  He died of his injuries on Monday morning.

Witnesses described the truck as a 1990s model, regular cab, full-size truck.  The truck is described as maroon in color with a 2-inch silver stripe down the sides.  The vehicle has green and white Colorado plates and damage to the front and possibly the driver's side of the truck.

The truck may have a tool box and possibly an extra cab, police said.
