Volunteer fire departments reeaping the benefits

Dollars helping save lives

Honeywell's donation to volunteer firefighters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Honeywell workers are pushing community in Southern Colorado.  They wanted to help volunteer firefighters who struggle with dollars in their departments for needed equipment.  A check was presented for 255 thousand dollars.  Honeywell Aerospace's,  Tim Mahoney said employees wanted to help those volunteer crews from the Waldo Canyon Wildfires and Black Forest Wildfires. 

Six departments will receive special Honeywell gloves, boots and hoods and Morning Pride turnout gear and helmets.  These departments will be equipped from head to toe.  They include Cascade, Crystal Park, Palmer Lake, Simla, Ellicott and Calhan. Cash donations will go to departments which include Stratmoor Hills, Divide, El Paso County Sheriff Wildland Fire Operations, Green Mountain Falls, Manitou Springs and Black Forest.

Cascade Fire Chief Michael Whittemore says about the gift, "Thank you Honeywell employees for all that you have done for stepping up and helping up."
