PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - Pueblo County commissioners introduced a new program to help our veterans on Monday.
It's called 'The Veterans Local Government Management Fellowship,' and it's funded by the Department of Defense.
Here's how it works: For 16 to 21 weeks, the program helps transitioning service members with management training and hands on experience in the local government.
We caught up with one veteran who says the program is a new way to help soldiers be ready for life after the military.
"This program offers the transitioning soldiers the opportunity to actually get into a program that will serve as a base for a future job after the military," said Eddie Medina.
The program manager says they're seeing success, with 100 percent of the participants' placed in local government jobs.
