Fort Carson joins effort to help Hurricane Harvey victims

FORT CARSON, Colo. - A group of Fort Carson soldiers is headed to Texas to help with those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The 4th Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, has sent the soldiers to Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, to assist Army North with setting up a mission command center.  

The center will process active duty Army assets that provide assistance to FEMA and those affected by Hurricane Harvey. 

The Fort Carson Directorate of Emergency Services also provided a firefighter and paramedic to the Colorado Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team that deployed over the weekend.  

On Wednesday, the Colorado National Guard left for Houston. 47 airmen were deployed from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
