Fort Carson units begin journey to...

FORT CARSON, Colo. - Several units from Fort Carson began their journey to the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site on Monday.

The brigade is heading there for an operation raider focus exercise.

Soldiers are conducting training to prepare soldiers for any possible mission should they be called to supports contingencies around the globe.

The public will even get the chance to meet soldiers during the exercise.

"On Friday, at 12:30 at Pinon Canyon, we'll be hosting an open house, completely open to the public. So, it's a great time to come down, meet our soldiers and see some of the equipment that will be participating in the exercise," said Lt. Col. Jason Brown of the 4th Infantry Division.

More than 5,000 soldiers and 1,200 vehicles will make the journey.

The exercise will start this weekend and will last about two weeks.
