Mother, 3 children from Peyton killed in crash in Wyoming


Four members of a family from Peyton are among the victims killed in a head-on collision in Wyoming.

According to Wyoming State Patrol, the crash happened around 3 p.m. Friday on WY 789 near Baggs, Wyoming.

A 2010 Nissan Armada crossed the center line and drifted into traffic coming from the other direction, according to a news release from Wyoming State Patrol. The Nissan then collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

When Troopers arrived at the scene, both vehicles were engulfed in flames.

Wyoming State Patrol has identified the driver of the Nissan Armada as 44-year-old Heather White. She was killed in the crash, along with three of her children. They are 16-year-old Bruce White, 15-year-old Meagan White and 12-year-old Scott White.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was identified as 27-year-old Eric Hagen from Casper, Wyoming. Bystanders pulled Hagen from the flames and he was transported to Denver by helicopter.

28-year-old Katie O’Keefe of Casper, Wyoming was a passenger in Hagen's vehicle and died.

According to Wyoming State Patrol, driver inattention and speed by the driver of the Nissan Armada are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
