Infant dies after mother struck by lightning

FORT MEYERS, Fla. - A 2-week-old infant, who was delivered via C-section following his mother being struck by lightning, has died. 

The nine-month pregnant mother was struck by lightning as she was walking outside her home on June 29.

The National Weather Service confirmed that Meghan Davidson was taken to a Florida hospital where Owen Davidson was born a day later. 

Owen's heart was beating perfectly on July 4 but was using oxygen assistance. He died on Thursday.

Meghan Davidson was said to be in fair condition.

Owen is the sixth person to be killed by lightning in the U.S. this year.

Four of the six lightning fatalities have been in Florida.
