TELLER COUNTY, Colo. - Authorities in both Colorado and Indiana are investigating whether a man suspected of menacing is also connected to the unsolved murder of two teens.
Daniel Nations, 32, was arrested in Woodland Park on Monday for possession of a weapon by a previous offender and is also suspected of threatening people with a hatchet along Mount Herman Road.
He is being held in the Teller County Jail.
Nearly a week before Nations' arrest, the body of cyclist Tim Watkins was found in the same area.
Indiana State Police was notified of his arrest and is looking into Nations' involvement in the death of two teens in New Delphi, Ind.
They released the following statement:
"We are aware of the arrest of the person in Colorado and are investigating to see if he could be a suspect in the Delphi double murder investigation. Please keep in mind the Indiana State Police has received more than a thousand photos of persons alleged to be similar in appearance to the composite sketch of the Delphi person of interest. Each and every one of these tips are investigated for any potential connection to our case. We will give the same attention to the person arrested in Colorado, but right now there is nothing that definitively connects this person to our investigation."
Liberty German and Abigail Williams were found murdered on February 14. Authorities were able to get a picture of the suspect off Liberty's phone.
