Sheriff's deputy dies after her vehicle falls into sinkhole in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A part-time Sheriff's deputy is dead after her car fell into a sinkhole in San Antonio, Texas.

Authorities say the victim was driving Sunday night when the sinkhole opened up, causing the vehicle to go in it.

The car then became submerged by rushing water inside the sinkhole, then a second car fell into it.

Rescuers managed to save the driver of the second car, but it took until Monday afternoon to recover the body of the first car's driver.

The victim was identified as Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy Dora Linda Nishihara, who worked part-time for the department for more than seven years.
