LAS ANIMAS COUNTY, Colo. -

Two people were hurt, one suffered serious injuries, in a crash near Trinidad early Sunday morning. But emergency responders were not contacted about the crash until five hours later.

It happened on Las Animas County Road 71 around 1 a.m. Sunday about two miles north of Trinidad. Troopers said responders did not learn about the crash until about 6 a.m.

The driver, 23-year-old Eric Trujillo of Colorado Springs, went of the road. When he tried to get back on it, his truck rolled, state patrol said. He suffered minor injuries.

The passenger, John Trujillo, 33, from Trinidad was seriously hurt in the crash, state patrol said. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Drugs and alcohol were likely not a factor in the crash, state patrol said. But speed was a factor.
