Otero County driver and passenger in hospital after being hit by a train

According to investigators with Colorado State Patrol, an accident near Rocky Ford sent two people to the hospital.

Troopers say Ryan Beckwith was driving on Highway 71. When he turned onto Highway 50, his vehicle struck a Chevy Tahoe. The collision pushed the Tahoe across the highway and onto a set of railroad tracks.

Unable to stop, a train hit the vehicle.

The driver and passenger in the Tahoe were taken to the hospital.

Beckwith will appear in court to face charges of careless driving.
