Pedestrian killed on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A section of Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs was shut down for several hours Wednesday near Garden of the Gods Road due to a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.

One person was hit in a southbound lane. Witnesses reported seeing a person running across I-25 after standing near the shoulder.

CSPD said the person was killed, but no identity has been released yet. Drugs or alcohol aren't believed to be involved.

Both lanes of southbound I-25 were reopened by about 9:30 p.m.
