Pit Bulls Drag Pueblo Woman

Woman Dragged By Head

PUEBLO, Colo. - Two pit bulls injured a Pueblo woman Monday morning.

According to Pueblo Police, the pit bulls, one male and one female, dragged a woman by her hair near 1 Alamo Rd.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to her head. She is expected to survive.

Witnesses found a piece of the woman's scalp at the scene.

Witnesses saw what was going on and were able to scare the dogs away and call police.

Pueblo Animal Services Animal Law Enforcement Officers (ALE) assisted Pueblo Police in detaining the two dogs. ALE found the pit bulls in a pen near the scene with two pit bull puppies. The dogs who attacked the woman are believed to be the parents of the puppies. Both dogs are under quarantine at the Pueblo Animal Services shelter.

ALE issued a summons and complaint for two counts of Unlawful Ownership of a Dangerous Dog to the dogs' owner, Paul Anthony Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has 10 days to pay a $600 bond on both animals to cover the cost of housing and care for each dog for 30 days as he awaits his trial.
