COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Colorado Springs police are asking the public to keep its distance from a nest of great horned owls that have caused quite a stir on the northwest side of the city.

An area near the Walgreens has been roped off but many people continue to close in on the tree and to try and get a look.

Police said some people have walked into the road without looking to try and get a better look at the birds. That and the crowd has caused traffic problems on Vindicator Road and Centennial Boulevard.

There's also the danger that the birds could attack bird watchers if  they feel threatened.
