Denver suburb with many immigrants say it's not a sanctuary

AURORA, Colo. - A Denver area city says it's not a sanctuary city but isn't anti-immigrant either.

The Aurora City Council narrowly passed a resolution Monday night declaring that the city is in compliance with a federal law that says a local government can't bar officials from communicating with federal authorities - the standard cited by the Trump administration for whether a city is a sanctuary or not. There is no legal definition of the term itself.

The Aurora Sentinel reports the city is cooperating by sharing fingerprints of jail inmates with state authorities, who share them with federal authorities.

The resolution also says that minority-majority city will continue to act in the best interest of its many foreign-born residents. It was introduced after Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" implied that Aurora was a sanctuary city.
