KRDO BREAKDOWN: Top ballot issues in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - Pueblo County 1A

-Ballot issue 1A is approving funding for a new Pueblo County Detention Center. Taxes would be increased $10,589,460 annually by increasing the county's sales and use tax rate by nine-twentieths of one cent per dollar (0.45%).

Ballot Question No. 2A

-If Question No. 2A is approved, the city of Pueblo will no longer be managed by a council-manager government but will change to a mayor-council government. The city will eliminate the office of city manager and will establish a mayor office. The mayor will have a salary of $12,500 per month, which is subject to change by ordinance. 

Question No. 2B

-If approved, question No.2B will allow additional funding to be used for police personnel and operating needs. It would increase Pueblo's taxes by up to $3.6 million annually starting January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2022. There will be an imposition of an additional one-fifth percent (.2%) on the city sales and use tax rate.

Question No. 2C

- 2C asks the city to vote on whether city council should establish a street repair enterprise. 

Ballot Question No. 300

- Question No. 300 proposes a tax increase of $3.5 million annually to go towards police and youth orientated community-based programs that the city hopes will decrease overall violence and crime in the city. There would be an imposition of a one-quarter percent ($0.0025) city sales and use tax rate starting January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2027.
