WASHINGTON - Republican Colorado Senator Cory Gardner met with Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch Wednesday morning.
Gorsuch is a Colorado native who lives in Boulder and sits on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals based in Denver.
In a statement following the meeting, Gardner said Gorsuch "is an exceptional jurist who will bring an additional Western perspective to the Supreme Court." Gardner went on to say that he is "confident his opinions will have a positive impact on this country for generations to come."
Gardner also urged his colleagues to quickly confirm Gorsuch, calling him a mainstream jurist who understands the importance of putting aside personal beliefs and interpreting the law as written.
President Donald Trump announced Gorsuch as his pick to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on Tuesday night.
