Child porn suspect accepts plea, sentenced to 40 years in CDC

PUEBLO, Colo. - A woman in Pueblo who made and distributed child pornography accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 40 years in the Colorado Departments of Corrections.

Ruth Smith, 29, pleaded guilty to child abuse causing serious bodily injury, attempted sexual assault on a child and sexual exploitation of a child -- possession of either a video or 20 or more images of a child that qualifies as sexually exploitative material, according to our partners at The Pueblo Chieftain. By taking the plea deal, eight other charges against Smith were dismissed.

The judge also ordered mandatory parole and Smith would have to register as a sex offender.

She and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Carlos Warclub, were arrested in June of 2015 for sending child porn to Great Britain.
