Crews extinguish carport fire southside of Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. - A large amount of smoke from a carport fire could be seen in different parts of Pueblo on Thursday.

Firefighters got a call about the fire in the 3000 block of Fairfield at around noon. The family living at the home says they were asleep when the fire started.

Neighbors woke them up and called the Pueblo Fire Department.

Fortunately, everyone is safe.

The fire started in the carport and then spread to the attic space, according to the Pueblo Fire Department. It burned the neighbor's fence. A couple sheds in the backyard area were also affected.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

This is an ongoing investigation.
