PUEBLO - The Colorado State University extension office in Pueblo County is helping to save the bee population.
They are added a bee installation at the Pueblo Zoo on Tuesday.
It's a part of the BeeWise program to help monitor the bee population.
Hives will be equipped with electronic equipment to monitor the health of the insects.
“So, we're going to be monitoring temperature, humidity, weight and gyro-scope to notify if the hive is tipped over or taken,” said Jane Crayton with the STEM Extension Unit.
State Rep. Daneya Esgar and Pueblo County commissioners were there participating in the ribbon-cutting for the smart hives.
