PUEBLO, Colo. - District 60 in Pueblo held a public meeting on Thursday night to talk about changes for the Heroes Academy.

They discussed a proposal that would remove elementary students and bus them to other schools.

The move to dissolve kindergarten through 5th grade is due to low-performance issues over the last several years.

Middle school students would remain at the school because there are no other schools nearby for them to attend.

The vice president of the PTA says she and other parents want more time to improve.

"There's not enough data. We've had one year of data collected, and they're just making this proposal, but another year of data collection could show that we're already out of turn around and we're growing from there," said Marie Tutterrow, PTO vice president, parent.

About 300 students would have to be absorbed into three different schools if this proposal passes.
