Incarcerated man found responsible for Vialpando murder

PUEBLO, Colo. - A man already locked up at the Pueblo County Detention Center is now facing an additional first-degree murder charge.

Investigators have determined that Leo Anthony Montoya, 23, is the person responsible for the fatal shooting of Isaiah Vialpando on September 2, 2015.

Vialpando was shot and killed while driving his silver BMW in the 200 block of Court Street.

It was reportedly the second of two shootings involving Hispanic males driving silver BMW's in a three-day time period.

Officers had already arrested Montoya on August 12 for the attempted first-degree murder of Carlos Montoya, which was the first shooting in the three-day time period.

According to the Pueblo Police Department, Leo did not mean to shoot Carlos or Vialpando, and that Leo was looking for the person responsible for shooting and paralyzing him.

Leo Montoya now faces the additional charges of First Degree Murder.
