Two arrested in connection with mail theft in Pueblo West

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. - Two people have been arrested for stealing mail from a Pueblo West Post Office.

Amy Quini, 34, and Johnathan Edington, 35, were arrested on Friday at a North Side bank where they were attempting to cash several stolen checks.

The investigation began in early January after authorities got several calls regarding a woman trying to cash checks that appeared to have been altered.

There were at least nine victims who had their mail intercepted from the Pueblo West Post Office, and they never made it to their destination.

Several of the mailed items included checks that were found to have been cashed at local and Colorado Springs banks in the name of Amy Quini or “Hopeful Hand”. Quini told deputies “Helpful Hand” was a company she owned and operated out of her home in Pueblo West.

When the two were arrested on Friday, several stolen checks, ledgers and credit cards were found in their possession.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies with assistance from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service arrested two people in connection with theft of mail from the Pueblo West Post Office.

Quini and Edington were both arrested for identity theft, forgery, and theft. Edington also was arrested for two unrelated warrants.

Both suspects were booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center.
