PUEBLO, Colo. - For the second year in a row, Pueblo County is trying to increase scholarship funds for Pueblo's graduating seniors.
The Board of County Commissioners voted to submit an application for the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative Matching grant.
If the county is awarded the grant, it will provide an additional $200,000.
Any student attending CSU-Pueblo or Pueblo Community College will receive the scholarship if they apply for it.
The application deadline is this Sunday.
"The point is to provide educational opportunities for all of our graduating high school students, but also we're helping to keep our educational talent local," said Sal Pace, Pueblo County Commissioner.
Right now, nearly half a million dollars is available for the 2017-2018 academic year.
