PUEBLO, Colo. - In a news conference on Thursday, Pueblo police announced that a year-long investigation ended in the arrest of five men and a seizure of heroin with a street value of at least $8 million.

The investigation began in December of 2016 when investigators started looking into criminal activity associated with street gangs in the Pueblo area.

This led them to three major busts at two homes and a business called "Get Your Fix Automotive" in Pueblo.

The five individuals arrested include:

  • Daniel Vasquez- Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and felon in possession of a firearm. 
  • Roger Bujanda- Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and felon in possession of a firearm. 
  • Jesus Mercado Valdez- Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and felon in possession of a firearm.
  • Gage Rael- Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and felon in possession of a firearm. 
  • Leonard Aragon- Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin

The bust resulted in the seizure of 28 kilograms of heroin, 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 50 grams of cocaine, 35 firearms including stolen weapons and a machine gun, and $540,000. The five arrested could be facing anywhere from 10 years to life in prison. 

"We are confident this case will send a message to those contemplating trafficking heroin and other dangerous illegal narcotics they will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Calvin Shivers.
