SCAM ALERT: Suspect demands money after claiming to have loved one

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Pueblo Police Department is warning the public about a desperate phone scam that has some concerned.

The Department has taken several calls recently from citizens, saying that a man with a Spanish accent had just called them claiming to have their relatives.

Their loved one was either injured, kidnapped or involved in a car accident.

He then asks the victim to wire money through the Western Credit Union and to NOT call the police. The scammer even goes as far as having a female crying in the background of the phone call.

Pueblo police are urging people to be vigilant about strange calls and to know that this one is a scam.
