California based Quantum Corporation confirms to KRDO NewsChannel 13 that it plans to layoff 170 workers in Colorado Springs.
The company is shutting down its manufacturing operation in Colorado Springs. The company's manufacturing work will be done by a contractor in Alabama once the transition is complete.
Quantum has seen several rounds of growth, and of layoffs, since it first came to Colorado Springs in 1994. The company says the 170 workers affected will get severance packages. Their jobs aren't expected to go away until after the first of the year.
A total of 305 people work at Quantum's Colorado Springs facility.
