Hundreds of car enthusiasts gathered with anticipation at Pikes Peak International Raceway Saturday for the adventure of their lives.
Drivers from across the Western United States paid hundreds of dollars for the thrill of a lifetime - getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Corvette and other supercars.
The weekend event is sponsored by "Xtreme Xperience," a touring supercar company.
"It's pretty intense," driver Michael Dennis said. Dennis, who drove a Lamborghini, loves fast cars.
"Getting to drive a Lamborghini, something I've wanted since 2006, I hope I don't leave here and buy one," Dennis said. "I'm a car guy. I love speed. It's never fast enough. It's never expensive enough."
For 15 years, instructor Brad Pines has sat shot gun with adrenaline junkies. "I help create lifetime memories," Pines said. "People get the chance to drive supercars unlike any other cars in the world. And for three laps it's their supercar."
