COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Tributes are pouring in for comedian Joan Rivers.

Her daughter, Melissa, confirmed that her mother had died early Thursday afternoon.

Rivers’ punchy and direct style is one that stuck with many.

Those people are now remembering Rivers and the barriers she broke for women in comedy.

Her sharp tongue is especially remembered - she never had an unspoken thought.

And that brash comedy left an impact on many.

“I read on the news and started looking into her again,” said Cliff McWhorter. “My first memory was as kids growing up. I would watch the shows, all the comedy she was doing. It was great.”

From her time on television with Johnny Carson to her red carpet specials, where no star was off limits.

She said if you laugh at it, you can live with it.
