A federal judge on Thursday cleared Florida’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, The Associated Press reported.
State judges in four counties also have sided with gay couples on the issue, the AP reported.
Stay issued delaying effect of order, the wire service said. No marriage licenses for gay couples will be issued immediately.
According to the AP, U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle ruled that the 2008 ban violates the 14th Amendment’s guarantees of equal protection and due process.
