MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. -

People in El Paso County will not have to travel outside of county lines to buy recreational marijuana starting Thursday.

Bill Conkling told KRDO Newschannel 13 that his store passed a final inspection Wednesday, and that he plans to open his shop sometime in the afternoon on Thursday.

Maggie's Farm will open on the east side of Manitou Springs near the Loaf N' Jug and Highway 24 (141 Manitou Ave.). This will be the first recreational marijuana store to open in El Paso County. The city approved a permit for Maggie's Farm in May.

The city of Manitou Springs is preparing for increased traffic, beginning Thursday, for the opening of the shop. Maggie's Farm will have at least 20 parking spaces and access to 37 overflow parking spaces at the Old Car Museum (135 Manitou Ave.). The city encourages people to take advantage of the free parking and shuttle service behind Tajine Alami (10 Old Mans Trail).

A second retail marijuana store took its first steps to start opening in Manitou Springs. The city approved a conditional use permit 1 earlier this month.
