EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is on the scene of an accidental shooting.

The call for help came in around 2 p.m. Saturday.

According to a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, a man was doing some recreational shooting off Mount Herman Road when he shot himself in the leg.

The man was taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not immediately clear.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, there is an area west of Monument off Mount Herman Road that is approved for recreation/target shooting.
