The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is searching for 46-year-old Kenneth Lankford as a person of interest for multiple shootings in Black Forest. He is considered armed and dangerous.
According to the Sheriff's Office, he is a person of interest in connection with two killings Saturday morning. Another person was in the hospital Saturday night in critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Office believes Lankford could be driving a stolen red 2002 Honda Odyssey with the license plate 048-GJB. If you see the car, call 911.
All three calls were in the Black Forest area: Two shootings on Timber Lane Court, another on Burrows Road. A few roads were closed on Saturday to visitors as the investigation continued.
Residents say this is the last thing they needed after a devastating fire and flooding this summer.
Quiet black forest turned into a terrifying town Saturday morning (11/9/13) when three calls came in for shootings of three different victims with gunshot wounds.
"I just wouldn't think that there would be people out there that would do something like this,” said Black Forest resident Jo Ann Schipper.
"Absolute senseless act of brutality,” said resident Kathy Kean.
The Sheriff’s Office says Kenneth Lankford, a Black Forest resident, is a person of interest.
We looked into Lankford's records. He was arrested three times since July 2012: once for a DUI, the second time for third degree assault which was later dismissed, and for a weapon offense - possession by a previous offender.
"I know our sheriffs. If they're looking, they will find and I know each of our community members will watch out for each other. Everybody will be on high alert,” said Kean.
Lankford also owned a home in Black Forest that burned down in this summer's fire. A tent now sits on the property.
