COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After more than a year of belt-tightening, the Colorado Springs Police Department is getting two units back, aimed at targeting criminals.
The city's impact and fugitive units are expected to be back and part of the department in May.
Lt. Howard Black tells us the move should cut down on response times by allowing patrol officers to respond to more priority calls.
"Bringing a metro fugitive unit allows us to look at these individuals across jurisdictional boundaries," Black said. "It's really going to have a huge impact taking some of these dangerous individuals off the streets."
For now, there are no plans bring back the CSPD gang task force.
