Search continues for man accused of kidnapping woman, son

Search continues in kidnapping investigation

DENVER - Authorities are still searching for a man accused of kidnapping a woman and baby in Adams County.

Investigators say Samantha Adams, 26, and Zahid Adams, 1, were taken by the ex-boyfriend and father, Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez. They have since been found.

The three drove south on Interstate 25 in a Honda sedan. The sedan was found abandoned in Pueblo on Thursday.

Carol Archuleta, of Pueblo, says she found the three frantically walking down the street. They asked for help so she brought them into her home for the night, then gave them a ride to a Denver RTD station Friday afternoon.

She says she had no idea police were looking for them, but later grew suspicious.

"I actually said,  'you guys aren't the ones that kidnapped the baby are you?' Archuleta said "And I said it jokingly cause it just entered my mind because you never know. And he answered right away and he says, 'well I don't have a car,' and I'm thinking how does he know about any car?"

The three were spotted by a security guard but Venzor-Gonzalez was able to get away.

Venzor-Gonzalez is still at large, the Pueblo Police Department says.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call police.
