CROOK, Colo. - The American Red Cross has opened a shelter to evacuees affected by the brush fire burning in Logan and Phillips counties.
The shelter is located at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 300 Ball Park Road in Sterling.
Red Cross volunteers will be at the shelter location to provide food, shelter, along with emotional and minor medical support.
The 30,000-acre fire forced the evacuation of the towns of Haxton and Fleming.
The State of Colorado activated its Emergency Operations Center because of the fire and the Department of Homeland Security Emergency Management has activated the State Resource Mobilization Plan.
