Suburban Denver mall reopens after 5 arrested in fights

AURORA, Colo. - A suburban Denver mall reopened with tight security Tuesday, a day after it was shut down after hundreds of young people converged there and several fights broke out.

Five juveniles were arrested during the disturbance at the Town Center at Aurora but no one was seriously injured.

Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Amsler says the trouble started when an officer tried to arrest a 13-year-old girl suspected of fighting and several other teen girls, including her sister, tried to interfere. He says the officer was soon surrounded by a crowd that eventually grew to about 500 people.

Police got a tip that a Facebook posting said there would be a fight at the mall but they haven't been able to find it.  They haven't found any evidence connecting the disturbance with those at other malls.
