Thornton, CO named Safest City in America

THORNTON, Colo. - A city in Colorado has ranked #1 on safest in the United States. 

Thornton, Colo., which is located on the northeastern side of Denver was labeled as the safest city in the U.S. by Alarms.org. 

The website was created by the National Council for Home Safety and Security trade association. 

Staff compiled property and violent crime statistics with FBI reports and were able to put together a list of the top 100 cities. 

Thornton had 244 violent crimes per 100,000 people and 2,533 property crimes per 100,000 people. 

And it wasn't the only town to make it on the list. 

Parker was ranked at 33, Centennial at 59, and Castle Rock at 75.

  2.  Greenwich, CT
  3. Weston, FL
  4. Johns Creek, GA
  5. Sammamish, WA
  6. Wheaton, IL
  7. Flower Mound, TX
  8. Middletown Township, NJ
  9. West Bloomfield Township, MI
  10. Aliso Viejo, CA
