Woman pinned under boulder at North Table Mountain

WATCH: Firefighters rescue hiker...

GOLDEN, Colo. - A 1,500-pound boulder at North Table Mountain Park fell onto a woman's leg on Wednesday afternoon. 

Rescuers spent a couple of hours trying to free her, and as of 4:30 p.m., they had her in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. 

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

City of Golden spokesperson Karlyn Tilley told our news partners at Denver 7 that the boulder caused multiple fractures in her leg.  

The woman was apparently hiking with a group of eight people from the American Mountaineering Center.
